Lenovo Windows 8 ThinkPad T431s Ultrabook Rolls Out

Lenovo has announced the T431s, a new ThinkPad model in the T-series. The notebook is its thinnest T-series to date and features newer features, including a redesigned trackpad and keyboard, both optimized for Windows 8.

The ThinkPad T431s will be available in April starting at approximately $949, PCMag reports.

The newest ThinkPad weighs 3.6 pounds is 0.82 inches thin with a carbon fiber top cover and magnesium exterior, benchmarks of ThinkPads, notebooks that generally cater to business customers and are known for their rugged design and durability. The updated keyboard has more ergonomic key placement, a thinner bezel and a new graphite black color.

Inside, the T431 is powered by Intel third-generation Core processors with Turbo Boost, has Intel HD Graphics and up to 12 GB of memory with additional HDD and SSD storage options. The T431s has a 14-inch HD+ (1600 x 900) anti-glare display and two USB 3.0 ports. The T431s' other specs include Intel vPro for easy device management and ThinkPad dock support.

"We obsess over the pursuit of perfection — as evidenced by more than 20 years of Lenovo ThinkPad design and engineering accolades," Dilip Bhatia, vice president and general manager, ThinkPad Business Unit, said in a statement. "However, perfection cannot be achieved without a key ingredient: customer insight. The ThinkPad T431s is the first device featuring Lenovo's new design, which represents a comprehensive examination of user experience and input."

The Thinkpad T431s is a culmination of extensive research conducted by Lenovo. The company said it spent more than nine months conducting research in multiple countries, "shadowing users in their homes, workplaces and remote locations, observing user behavior and asking questions," according to a statement.
