Lindsey Vonn And Tiger Woods Tell Facebook And Twitter Fans: "Yes We're Dating"

Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods both confirmed Monday via Facebook and Twitter updates that they are dating each other. The announcement makes them the sports world's new first couple, by virtue of their combined professional achievements.

After the announcement, the couple asked for privacy, stating that they want to be treated "as an ordinary" couple. That's going to be almost impossible; Vonn and Woods are two of the most well-known athletes in the world.

"I guess it wasn't a well-kept secret. But yes, I am dating Tiger Woods. Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy," wrote Vonn on her Facebook page Monday above a photo of the new and apparently happy couple. Woods, who rarely tweets, wrote "Just posted some pictures of @Lindseyvonn and me on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Tiger ", on his Twitter account, @TigerWoods.

Woods, 37, who began golfing at the age of 2, is one of the best golfers in history. He has won 76 PGA Tour events and 14 Major Championships. Woods' squeaky-clean image was challenged in 2010, and he fell out of the spotlight after an adultery scandal. He was exposed for cheating on his wife, Elin Nordegren with multiple women, which led to Woods allegedly being beaten with a golf club at the hands of Nordegren and then a divorce.

Vonn, 28, is a professional ski racer with 59 World Cup wins, five World Championship medals and an Olympic gold medal. She was married to former U.S. Ski Team athlete, fellow Olympian Thomas Vonn for four years before announcing their divorce filing in 2011.

About her new relationship with Woods, "I don't plan on addressing this further as I would like to keep that part of my life between us, my family and close friends. Thank you for understanding and your continued support!" said Vonn.
