Lenovo ZUK Edge: Price, Specs And Features Review

There is a new upcoming smartphone from Lenovo, the Lenovo ZUK Edge. Though it is not yet available as of now, a YouTube found its way to give an early review for the device.

Release Date And Price

According to the video, Lenovo ZUK Edge is only exclusive for China as of now. About its global release, it is reported that it will be available in January of 2017. For its retail price, it has two variants: $330-$339 for its 4GB RAM variant and $353-$360 for its 6GB RAM variant.

Design

The Lenovo ZUK Edge has a body dimension of 5.63 x 2.93 x 0.30 inches, which is basically larger than the Lenovo Z2 Plus. For its front and back design, it features a 2.5 curved glass that is coated around it, making it so naturally well on the palms of the user. Well, that is what the video source said. One thing notable about its front design is the Fingerprint Scanner feature located beneath the U-Touch button.  Even sweaty hands, or just wet hands, in particular, can still let the users access the Fingerprint Scanner without any complications or having the need to dry their hands first.

Display

The Lenovo ZUK Edge is said to feature a Full-HD 5.5 inch (78.3 percent screen-to-body ratio) capacitive touchscreen (16M colors) with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. However, according to the video source, the screen-to-body ratio is not 78.3 percent but is actually 86.4 percent.

Screen-to-body ratio aside, the Lenovo ZUK Edge's screen is quite bright and sharp. Its screen also has an "anti-scratchable" feature. Well, it is protected by a 2.5 curved glass, both on front and back.

Platform

The Lenovo ZUK Edge runs on the latest Android Nougat available right now. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 which is also one of the fastest chips available right now and making it one of the fastest phones of 2016. Its CPU power is 2.5 GHZ. And for the GPU, it sports an Adreno 530.

Memory

This smartphone has the best offers and doesn't follow the common practice which makes it different. Commonly, smartphone companies offer a selection of different memory storage models. But with the Lenovo ZUK Edge, buyers get to choose what RAM storage they want.

The first variant has an internal storage of 64 GB with 4 GB of RAM. The second variant features an internal storage of 64 GB with 6 GB of RAM. Just with this high RAM storage selection alone, I personally find this smartphone very appealing, especially for hardcore gamers.

Camera

About the Lenovo ZUK Edge's camera specs, it is nothing short of impressive details. For its rear camera, it features a 13 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. Though it packs an Electronic Image Stabilization feature, it doesn't have an Optical Image Stabilization feature, which is better to have and will give it a better camera performance like the iPhone 7 Plus has.

For its front camera, it has an 8 MP front snapper. It also has a f/2.2 aperture feature. And for its video, it is still unknown.

Battery

The Lenovo ZUK Edge houses a non-removable Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery. It also has a Quick Charge 3.0 feature which is said to be the fastest charging feature available for now. Regarding its battery life, there is no information yet.

However, according to the video source, users might find a problem regarding its battery life, because the Lenovo ZUK Edge features a large screen and a 3100 mAh battery will have a hard time powering it up. But hey, at least it has a Quick Charge feature, right? Plus, there are apps out there that could help improve battery life.

Features

One of the special features of the smartphone is its Health and Fitness app that has 10 different kinds of sensors. Basically, it is similar to the Apple Watch's Health and Fitness feature. About what activities that the app focuses on, the source did not specify.
