Koji Igarashi's Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is hailed as Castlevania's spiritual successor. Despite the success it had from the Kickstarter campaign, it has given Igarashi more pressure to make the game much better. Because of this, he delayed the launching of the game saying he wanted to make more improvements on it. This declaration, however, has made fans worried.
Many Castlevania fans believed that Igarashi is able to create its sequel even without Konami; thus, a lot of them backed the Kickstarter campaign of the game making it the highest funded game project in the history of the crowdfunding platform.
Igarashi and his team were able to raise $5.5 million, which he doesn't want to waste. He also wants to maintain the integrity of the game and does not want the fans to be disappointed.
According to his own words, it's either drop the quality one notch lower and publish the game earlier or maintain the quality he wants but publish it at a much later date. Igarashi opted for the latter.
But fans are quite worried whether Igarashi will really be able to create the game according to the quality he wants. For one, he has a very limited budget and second, no one is pressuring him anymore. Given the absence of such regulations, Igarashi and his team might not really deliver. One user from the 4Chan community said that everything looked "MN9 tier" and is ugly.
For some, their worry is whether Igarashi will be able to deliver the complete game at all. So far, the team hasn't shown anything substantial yet. However, there are those who are still confident and hopeful about what he can do considering Castlevania was not the only successful game he had.
Most probably, more information about the game will be revealed in late 2017; thus, let's just all wait and see hoping everything will turn out well.
