Pokemon Go Update: It's Now Easier To Get Hands On Starter Pokemon

Pokemon Go was undoubtedly one of the biggest games to come out in 2016 and though the hype for the game has eventually simmered down, the developers in Niantic are still trying to find new ways to get their players involved. News has it that the studio has decided to make it easier to capture starter Pokemon - the catch is, they'll only be abundant in areas until Jan. 8, 2017.

According to Game Informer, the new patch from Niantic will make starter Pokemon (and their evolutions) like Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Venusaur more abundant in areas. The official statement is as follows:

"In addition, from the afternoon of December 30, 2016, through the afternoon of January 8, 2017 (PST), the first partner Pokémon and their Evolutions, originally discovered in the Kanto region, are more likely to be encountered. This means a greater chance to catch Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur, as well as Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard, plus Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise!" The statement also says that Lure modules are now effective for a full hour instead of just half.

This would be a big help to some completionist players since the whole point of Pokemon Go is to catch more and more Pokemon until the Pokedex is completed. According to Game Rant, Niantic has slowly been trying to find new ways to keep Pokemon Go relevant to players. Aside from introducing new Pokemon into the game, more Pokemon will now be available in rural areas.

Back when it was first released, several reports of cheating have been found to be in rural areas since not a lot of Pokemon would show up in less populated locations. This opted players to fiddle with their GPS devices in order to gain access to rarer Pokemon. Hopefully, the update will appease some Pokemon fans in more rural areas.

Not long ago, Pokemon Go was one of the biggest titles to come out over the course of the summer. Not only was the content incredibly popular, but the game was also able to coerce several gamers to walk outside and socialize. The game has had a significant drop in users since then, but hopefully, the update will be able to keep the (Poke)ball rolling for Niantic.

As of now, Pokemon Go is now available to play on the Apple Watch and a lot of fans are looking forward to trading their Pokemon with other people in the community. Let's hope that Niantic won't run out of ideas as 2017 rolls along.
