CNN Literally Used Fallout 4 To Describe How Russians Hack

Like everything else in this world, once can't simply water down hacking. It's a term so general almost making it impossible to explain to a layman. But when a titular television channel tried to pacify this disconnection, it's when things started to get a little bit awkward for them. Here's how CNN went to describe hacking by using an image from Bethesda's critically acclaimed game Fallout 4.

Thanks to a Reddit user by the name of Poofylicious, it was revealed that the news network giant utilized a Fallout 4 screenshot. The purpose, obviously, was to give its viewers a decent perspective at what hacking is all about. Or perhaps, how things are done. Unfortunately, they thought no one would care to notice.

The news report, in which the Fallout 4 image was featured, discusses President Obama's sanctions against Vladimir Putin's Russia. This was merely due to the country's alleged role in various cyberattacks, most of which targeted the United States. At first, one would thought that it's a simple image the news guys did to cover their story. However, in a deeper look, it's actually quite obvious.

The neon green letters, in particular, are the first that Fallout 4 gamers will notice. After all, these have been all over the game since day one. It's also worth noting that in the game -- as well as in the previous installments -- players have the ability to hack computers to acquire information. This is also given for them to be able to unlock multiple doors and/or safes in an instant.

The aforementioned Reddit user and Fallout 4 player notes how CNN could have prevented this. That instead of using such image, it might be better to take it from "a scene from The Matrix." Well, it might be safe to say that the news network thought gamers aren't fond of news (seriously, why?).
