Nokia Lumia 520 Now Available To Pre-Order In India

Nokia launched the entry-level Lumia 520 and the mid-range Lumia 720 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in 2013. Now Indian customers can pre-order the Nokia Lumia 520 via online retailer Flipkart.

The Lumia 520 runs on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 (WP8) operating system. Announced in October 2012, the operating system has only got a handful of handsets running on the WP8 platform. Even out of the few WP8 handsets available, not all of them are budget-friendly.

Flipkart is offering the cyan, yellow, red, white and black variants of the Lumia 520 for Rs. 10499 ($193 approximately). The online retailer says that customers who pre-order the phone will receive the delivery in the second week of April. The retailer is also throwing in an 8GB Sandisk memory card; however, Flipkart does not say for how long the offer will continue.

Flipkart also indicates that customers can also opt to pay by three or six months installment plans if the pre-order is made before April 7.

The Nokia Lumia 520 SIM-free is ideal for those looking to find a WP8 smartphone that fits in a small- to medium-sized budget. The smartphone comes with 512MB of RAM, a dual core 1GHz processor and sports a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video.

The Nokia Lumia 520 sports a 4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 800x480-pixel resolution and 233 pixels per inch (ppi). A 1430mAh battery powers the smartphone, which gives up to 360 hours of standby time and up to 9 hours and 40 minutes of talk time on 3G.

The smartphone measures 4.72 x 2.52 x 0.39 inches and weighs 4.37 ounces.

WP8 smartphones are slowly gaining popularity in the smartphone space and many users will be able to experience the operating system if smartphone makers offer affordable handsets like the Lumia 520.
