Following the announcement that the Honda Civic Type R is finally coming to the U.S. market, excitement over the hot hatch has been building up. The Honda Civic Type R is set to arrive in the second half of the year and for a lot of fans and enthusiasts, this could be a very long wait. But before that, it appears that Honda is planning to end the current model's run with a bang as it introduces the last models in a Black Edition.

Honda Civic Type R Black Edition: The Black 100

The Japanese automaker has transformed the last 100 units of the current Honda Civic Type R into a Black Edition as its way of going out in a stylish manner. Accordingly, the Honda Civic Type R Black Edition features a unique look of red end plates that are attached to its rear wing. In addition, the interior is also primarily blacked with a few red elements. Apparently, the Honda Civic Type R Black Edition has the potential to be a collector's car as reported. Unfortunately, it was also mentioned that all 100 Honda Civic Type R Black Edition will only be sold in the United Kingdom. It looks like those who are interested to get one of these will have to move fast.

Honda Civic Type R Black Edition: Different Looks, Same Power

While the current model of the Honda Civic Type R is arriving with a different look, it appears that there are no changes in terms of its performance. A report from Top Speed stated that the Honda Civic Type R Black Edition is still powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that delivers a 310 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Accordingly, this gives enough power to the Honda Civic Type R Black Edition to propel it from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 167 miles per hour.

Reports state that the production for the 2018 Honda Civic Type R has already been completed. With that being said, all those that are looking forward to getting their hands on the 2018 Honda Civic Type R will simply have patiently await its arrival to the North American shores. The 2018 Honda Civic Type R is set to make its debut at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show in a couple of months where details about its release and price are likely to be announced.
