Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 Specs Leak

Samsung is seeing a ton of success with its Galaxy Note phablet line of smartphones. The devices blur the lines between smartphones and tablets and consumers seem to enjoy having a large display on their smartphones. Samsung is going to introduce a new line of phablets that will go by the name Galaxy Mega, and the specs for the device have just leaked.

A new report claims that the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 will feature a a 5.8-inch 960 x 540 Qhd TFT display, Android 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, Samsung Nature UX interface, 1.4GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, 2,600 mAh removable battery and the device's dimensions would be 164×83.8×9.7mm.

SamMobile claims that the Galaxy Mega 5.8 will be a high-end smartphone, but the device's specs don't seem to reflect that claim. When was the last time a 960 x 540 display would be considered a high-end feature on a smartphone?  The 1.4GHz dual core processor in the Galaxy Mega 5.8 can be found on many entry-level smartphones on the market, not a high-end smartphone.

Take these specs with a huge grain of salt, as these specs don't seem to fit on a high-end smartphone. If the specs are indeed real, Samsung might be targeting the Galaxy Mega line as a low-cost phablet in order to offer more of its phablets at different price points.
