If you ever wanted to purchase an iMac, now's your chance: Apple is offering deals on certified refurbished iMacs at its official online store. The refurbished Apple products are heavily discounted, some as much as $400 off the retail price.

The iMac 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 base model is offered for $1,529 and comes with 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive and an extra-large 2560 x 1440 display. The original retail price of this 27-inch display iMac was $1,799.

Depending on the stock configuration you choose, a refurbished 3.2 GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 iMac machine is on sale for $1,699. Another option is the 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 iMac with 8GB and a 1TB hard drive for $1,869. These machines are being sold below the retail prices of $1,999 and $2,199, respectively, a savings of 15 percent.  

For buyers who are timid about purchasing a refurbished iMac, Apple asserts that its machines have all undergone a rigorous restoration process. Apple wants to ease the minds of wary consumers and includes a one-year warranty on each refurbished iMac.  

These three new 27-inch iMacs were well received when first introduced to market last year. It's been nearly two months since Apple started offering 21.5-inch iMac machines and is now offering the 27-inch models. The 27-inch display on the iMac features a thinner and more vibrant screen as a result of a new lamination process.
