'Paper Wasps' Behavior Highly Comparable To Human Behavior In Work Environment

Paper wasps have been compared to have much similar traits to humans when in the environment at work. They have been observed to leave their bosses once they find a much better working environment that is best suited for their needs.

Behaviour Of Wasps Being Experimented By Adding More Nests In Their Environment

There have been researchers that determined to study the daily lives of paper wasps and how they go about their work in each day. They studied about 1,500 wasps that live in 43 different nests on a verge of a cactus located in Spain. According to the paper that was made by the researchers of the said study, they interfered with the job market of the wasps by adding up the number of nests that surrounded the verge of the cactus. This has then led some of the wasps to have more options and more reasons to leave their nests for better ones.

There are two groups wherein the wasps are divided into: helpers and breeders. The former's job is to look after the children of the latter which is payment in exchange of letting them live in their nests. However, when they start to see that new nests offer more to them, they have tendencies to leave the nests for better and newer ones. Thus, this resulted to the helpers in the nest getting less, and the breeders somehow getting alarmed. So, as a way to keep them, the breeders allow the helpers to be more comfortable in their nests by doing less work.

Wasps' Behaviour Do Not Fall Far From The Human Behaviour In Terms Of Competition

One of the scientists of the research team, Dr. Lena Grinsted pointed out how remarkable it is to find out and discover that there is a clear effect on the wasps' behaviour just by changing its environment. Thus, it has been pointed out that the behaviour of the wasps is no different than those of the human beings when it comes to the working environment, especially in the business world. When there is a risk of higher competition, one lowers his standard and price so not to lose its employees and loyal customers.
