The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Update: Game Gets Sexual Content Rating in Japan

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gets two surprising and bold ratings in Japan. On the other hand, the game will not make full use of the Nintendo Switch's controllers.

Many fans are currently awaiting the upcoming Zelda game that promises a new experience in the main franchise. Aside from having full voice acting, the game boasts a vast open world with all new locations, characters, dungeons and more. However, it seems like this title will be targeted for a much more mature audience.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Rated for Mature Content

In line with this, Nintendo has usually been tame when including or even suggesting mature content. Even so, Twinfinite reports that a leaked image of the game's Japanese box art includes surprising ratings for the series. This time, the Computer Entertainment Ratings Organization (CERO) Japanese ratings board has labeled the game with themes of crime, violence and sexual content.

It is worth noting that this is the first ever installment in the franchise that CERO labeled with sexual content. In spite this, fans should not expect anything too explicit as the content will still possibly fall in line with the game's theme. Moreover, previous trailers have yet to actual showcase anything inappropriate for minors.

Surprising Lack of the Iconic Joycon Feature

That aside, series producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed that the upcoming Zelda game will not make use of the 'HD Rumble' features, as per COGconnected (press release). Aonuma explained that the team wanted both versions of the Wii U and Switch to be exactly the same. He claimed that they did not create much difference between the games aside from their graphical difference.

This might come as a blow to fans who wanted to experience the highly advertised features of the Nintendo Switch's Joycons. The HD Rumble supposedly enhances gameplay features due to its realism in terms of touch immersion. Fans will have to make due without them when they play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
