Xbox 720 And Xbox Mini To Feature Original Programming And Heroes Revival?

With shows like Arrested Development and House of Cards revitalizing the online television experience, the Xbox 720 may join the crowd. Microsoft has announced that it, too, will create original programming exclusively through its available platforms. The Xbox 720 will be the first to join this fast growing concept.

In a joint partnership with NBC, Microsoft plans on producing a revival of the popular sci-fi drama Heroes. The cult favorite ran on NBC for four years, before ending its run in 2010. It is not clear at this point if the series would be a clean re-boot of the original or if it would see the continuing saga of the young superheroes.

Microsoft seemed determined to further to advance its original programming with an administrative overhaul in February. Whether original programming will be compatible with both the Xbox 720 and the rumored Xbox mini remains to be seen. The Xbox mini is reportedly similar in practice to the Apple TV. Regardless of whether the Heroes deal comes to fruition, it is clear that the rat race to become top dog among the tablet/ interactive community is still heating up.

After initial reports of the reboot leaked, fan reaction has been mixed. A quick glance at Twitter shows wildly different interpretations of this news. User @selestina128 perhaps sums up the attention by noting that she personally is "cautiously optimistic." Though it may not create as much buzz as the long-awaited Arrested Development reboot on Netflix, fans of Heroes certainly have something to think about.

Following the success of House of Cards on Netflix and the early buzz for Arrested Development, it is clear that the classic television set could one day go the way of the eight-track tape.
