Millennials’ Inquisitive Behavior Jeopardized By This One Question

In a recent study, it has been revealed that millennials, or those born from 1982 onwards, have been raised with technology as their ‘birth right.’ Being innately inquisitive, this generation has formed an inclination to finding information in an instant. However, there is one question that always puts these millennials in trouble either in their professional and personal life.

Simon Sinek, author of the business and entrepreneurial book Start With Why, said that millennials whether in work, home or social occasions, always ask “Why?” They always look for motivation or reason behind their actions. This inspires and propels them to exert extra effort in accomplishing their tasks.
Even if millennials often ask “why,” they do not ask it with resentment or rebellion in their tone. Millennials are characterized as patient and hardworking. This behavior is the result of their parents’ ‘too much involvement’ in their lives.

INC reported that millennials always seek for reason behind action because of the age they grew up in. Unlike other generations, millennials do not proceed to do something without knowing what it is for. Furthermore, they do not hesitate to find their own answers, or do ways to find solutions.
However, millennials often find themselves in trouble asking why with authorities. Due to generation gap, the older generation do not like being defied. For them, asking ‘why’ seems to be a form of opposition, even if it is not the intention of millennials. They just want to avoid the thought that what they are doing is wrong.

The Drum reported a study which claims that millennials serve as a key demographic in marketing as well. Since they are younger and more digital-savvy audience, they encourage more upbeat and modern methods in advertising. Furthermore, millennials’ spending habits influences baby boomers and Generation X. However, this generation does not find happiness in money but in having close friends at work.
