"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" also known as "Star Wars" episode 8 will definitely open in December 2017. This was revealed by no less than the CEO of Disney, Bob Iger. He also said recently in his company's Q1 earnings report that he's just seen it last week. Could it mean that they have already finished filming the movie?

Iger added that this movie is a great chapter in the now very famous saga of Luke Skywalker's family. And then he teased that a Han Solo film about his origins is just going into production. It appears that even as fans are still waiting for the release of chapter 8, Disney is already titillating the fans of Star Wars saga with another movie of the genre.

New Characters Will Be Added To The Former Cast

From the reports coming out lately, the old characters will be seen again in "Star Wars" episode 8. Fans will again see the likes of Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and surprise, surprise, General Leia Organa. Apparently, Carrie Fisher has completed all her scenes for episode 8 before she passed away.

And the most awaited character that every fan of "Star Wars" episode 8 is waiting for will show up, Luke Skywalker. But aside from Luke, there will be other actors that will be featured in this movie for the first time. They include Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, famous for her role in the first Jurassic Park movie, and Kelly Mary Tran, who is reportedly in the movie as the love interest of Finn.

What Is The Possible Meaning Of "The Last Jedi"

But what's the meaning of "The Last Jedi?" The most obvious answer is that it refers to Luke who is the last remaining one of this special order of warriors. This was the name attached to him by Yoda in "Return of the Jedi." But Mark Hamill has an interesting comment about this. "I think it's very ambiguous. Is it someone we've never met before? Or is it Rey? Because she seems to have the Force as well," Hamill said.

The Tone Of "Star Wars" episode 8 Will Be Different

It also appears that "Star Wars" episode 8 will have a tonal shift from the saga's last installment. Some of its cast members say that this upcoming movie will be a bit darker than the previous one. Fans will soon know about this when the movie promotions start to advertise this tonal shift.
