Destiny 2 Speculation: Bungie Under Pressure To Deliver Game This Year

Game developer Bungie is under pressure to release Destiny 2 this year. There are rumors that Activision will get the developer's stocks if the upcoming sequel fails to make a 2017 release.

Destiny 2 Delay Will Cost Bungie

There have been reports that Activision will received Bungie stocks if the developer does not deliver the game on time. The publisher though has denied the allegation. In fact, Activision even referred to Destiny 2 during its annual income meeting this week. Nevertheless, Bungie employees do have a major incentive in releasing games like Destiny 2 on time. It seems that their stock options are tied with the timely releases.

Destiny 2 Reddit Leak Considered Fake

Last week, Reddit user Inside_Leaks posted some details about Destiny 2. The leak included the title, storyline, release date and themed events plans every month or two months. It did not take long though for a Bungie staff to discredit the leak.

Activision Introduces Destiny 2

Activision head Eric Hirshberg told his audience that Destiny 2 will have a better storyline than the previous installment. Fans and critics alike criticized Destiny when it was first release due to its lack of comprehensive or interesting storyline. The developer though tried to remedy the situation by adding bits and pieces of the story in later contents.

Release Date, Other Details

The upcoming game is scheduled for launch on autumn this 2017. The storyline is set in a time line after the Taken King expansion. There also have been concerns about its gameplay. The publisher said that the upcoming game will cater to casual players. This has raised concern that hardcore players may not see the game as challenging enough. Activision though has tried to allay those fears. Both publisher and developer are still silent on the transferability of current characters and progress to the upcoming Destiny 2.
