Vampyr is a game about a doctor named Jonathan E. Reid in 1918 London, where he become a vampire. As a doctor, Jonathan has to uphold his sacred duties to save lives but upon becoming a vampire, he is thrust into a moral dilemma as his craving for blood blurs the line between his persona as a lifesaving doctor and the blood-thirsty vampire inside him. Although there are multiple ways of playing through the game, the events and settings around Jonathan can change depending on the actions of the player.

Vampire Factions In The Game

In an article by Gamesradar, there are four types of vampire factions in the game namely, the Ekon, Skal, Volkod, and Nemrod. While all the members of these factions are vampires, each faction's vampire has a different trait and look that can easily distinguish them.

The Ekon are a faction of vampires that look like ordinary humans that are a part of the high society in 1918 London. Typically these are vampires who charm and seduce their way into drinking a target's blood. At the start of the game, another Ekon by the name of Lady Ashbury guides and teaches the player and it is at this point that players realize that Jonathan is an Ekon.

The Skal are a faction of vampires who live down in the sewers, in contrast to the Ekon. These vampires are considered as "lesser vampires" by most of their race and are comparable to ghouls. According to Stéphane Beauverger, Narrative Director of Vampyr, the Skal tend to be messy and they kill a lot of people.

The Vulkod are the muscles of the vampire race and are described as enormous and grey skinned. These vampires are like a combination of a werewolf and vampire, and according to Beauverger, men wrongly call these things as werewolves but they are indeed vampires.

Lastly, The Nemrod are a faction of vampires that "hate" vampires. Their objective is to kill all vampires whether they belong to the Ekon, Skal, or Vulkod.

Vampire Combat

According to Cog News, players have the option to play the game between being a Shadow vampire, an Instinct vampire, or Blood vampire. Although each option, in reality, describes what a vampire is, each comes with a different kind of gameplay.

A Shadow vampire utilizes stealth and darkness to control or manipulate a character. An Instinct vampire allows you to change into beast where the player can use brute strength and large claws to mutilate enemies. And lastly, a Blood Vampire allows you to control anything blood related, players can boil the blood of their enemies, or create a blood stake to stab others.

Hopefully, a release date for Vampyr will soon be announced as players are getting more and more excited to play the game.
