Samsung Galaxy S4 DUOS Android 4.2.2 Odin Firmware Update Guide Available

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 DUOS (GT-I9502) about to be launched in several countries, official firmware for the device is now being made available.

The I9502ZNUAMDG firmware is based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's Nature UX 2.0. Currently the firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S4 DUOS is only available in China, however it is hoped that other countries will follow suit not too long from now. You can easily update the Samsung Galaxy S4 DUOS to the new firmware using Odin. Firmwares have been released for other variants of the Galaxy S4 as well. The details for this firmware are listed below:

PDA: I9502ZNUAMDG

CSC: I9502CHUAMDG

Version: 4.2.2

Preparation

1. Back up all data.

2. Make sure your Galaxy S4 DUOS is at least 80 percent charged.

3. Download USB drivers for your computer.

4. Make sure that USB Debugging is enabled (information here).

Directions

1. Download I9502ZNUAMDG Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for the Samsung Galaxy S4 DUOS. Extract the file.

2. Download Odin. Extract the file.

3. Turn off the Galaxy S4 DUOS. Put the phone into Download Mode by pressing and holding the Home and Volume Down buttons together and then pressing the Power button. When you see a warning screen, press the Power button to confirm entering into Download Mode.

4. Run Odin as an administrator.

5. Use the USB cable to connect your Galaxy S4 DUOS to your computer while it is in Download Mode. One of the ID:COM boxes should turn yellow with the COM port number.

6. In Odin, click on "PDA" and select the .tar file with "CODE" in its name. You got this file after extracting the I9502ZNUAMDG Firmware Package in Step 1. Then:

- Click on "Phone" and select the file with "MODEM" in its name (Ignore this step if no such file is present)

- Click on "CSC" and select the file with "CSC" in its name (Ignore step if no such file is present)

- Click on "PIT" and select the .pit file. Only use this file if you get it while extracting the zip file mentioned in Step 1. Otherwise ignore it.

7. In the Odin window, make sure that the "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" checkboxes are selected. If using a .pit file, make sure that the repartition checkbox is selected. If you are not using a .pit file, the box should not be checked.

8. Click on Start in Odin. This will begin the flashing process. Wait for Odin to flash I9502ZNUAMDG on your phone.

9. Once installation is finished, the Galaxy S4 DUOS will automatically restart. You can unplug the phone from the computer once the Samsung logo appears on the home screen.

Your Samsung Galaxy S4 DUOS (GT-I9502) should now be updated to I9502ZNUAMDG Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
