'The Vampire Diaries' Finale: Stefan Dies? First Photo Teaser Of Nina Dobrev's Comeback

"The Vampire Diaries" is less than a month from its finale, and Nina Doberev's return has been teased in a big way. The actress returns after two seasons of hiatus and her character reportedly return to say goodbye to someone close to her. Fans are quick to assume either Bonnie or Stefan will die with the latter getting more votes to meet his demise.

Dobrev previously confirmed her return to "The Vampire Diaries" finale, and EW has gotten a firsthand look at the set where the cast shoots for the final episode. It has been revealed that Dobrev's character was seen highly emotional in a funeral set, confirming the rumors that someone will die during the finale. Since it was seen that Dobrev is in the front row of the mourners, fans are quick to guess that it will either be Bonnie or Stefan.

In the trailer of "The Vampire Diaries" finale, Dobrev was seen looking into a high school picture of Elena and her cheerleader squad. This made fans believe that the actress will reprise her role as Elena, but reports say that she will return as the doppelganger, Petrova. This then eliminates Bonnie on the list, leading theories to point on to Stefan's demise.

Theories say that Stefan will make the ultimate sacrifice to allow his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to extract the Cure from his blood. This is said to serve as Stefan's way to give back to Damon whom he made a vampire, and give him the chance to enjoy a mortal life with Elena. It still remains impossible though to confirm who will really go six feet under the ground as the production is keeping the scene kept under the wraps.

Meanwhile, Dobrev shares about her return after she left the show when her contract expired at the end of "The Vampire Diaries" season 6. She revealed that she is happy to be a part of the series finale which she starred in for six years.

TVD airs Fridays at 8/7c on the CW. Meanwhile, The Vampire Diaries season 8 finale will be on March 10.
