Many God of War Fans thought that God of War Ascension will be the last installment of the God of War series. Last year, fans were shocked, as the game's creator revealed that there will be a soft reboot of the series entitled "God of War 4: A New Beginning." The announcement trailer for the said version was revealed during the ES 2016, but there are only minimal information revealed about the game up to this day. The only thing that the fans know was a brief overview about the game's storyline, which was revealed to the public by the game's creative director Cory Barlog. Along with an overview of the series' storyline was the information about Kratos' son, which was revealed this year.

According to a tweet by Christopher Judge, the person who will be the voice behind the GOW's main character Kratos, "I can now confirm I am Kratos #GodofWar4."
