Apple iPhone 8 Could Feature 'Function Area' Instead Of Home Button

As we inch closer to the most awaited iPhone this year, new rumors claimed that Apple will show off a new industrial design - dropping the aluminum unibody in favor of glass on the front and back of the handset, surrounded with a metal bumper. The OLED display is also rumored to be curved, wrapping around and shrinking the physical footprint of the device. Also recently, the thought was that Apple was preparing some seriously stunning new hardware and software for a single 10th-anniversary debut for the iPhone 8. As previously speculated, a reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believed that the iPhone 8 will keep the same dimensions as previous iPhones, with a 5.15in display area on a 5.8in OLED screen.

Apple iPhone 8 New Feature Called 'Function Area'

Recently, more reports suggest that the iPhone 8 could prove to be a major departure from its previous launches, with an all-new way to interact with your devices. Taking place of the Home button and Touch ID sensor will be a "function area" that will provide some type of virtual buttons. Kuo implies that instead of fingerprint recognition, the "iPhone 8" will give some type of new biometric technology. Iris or some other type of facial recognition has previously been speculated for the handset.

Interestingly, the idea of a "function area" looks similar to this incredible concept video shown about a few days ago. Some type of Touch Bar, like found on the new MacBook Pro line. Furthermore, it has been rumored that the iPhone 8 will cost as much as a towering price of $1000, the cost is higher than the current top of the line iPhone 7 Plus, but isn't as incredible as it may sound on the surface. In addition, other reports also rounding up is the features including an all-glass design, 'wireless' charging, and much more.
