The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is one of the most talked-about cars of the year. It is the fastest Camaro from GM and with a top speed of 198 mph, the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is also practically one of the fastest cars worldwide. It was said that this car is even faster than the Chevrolet Z06.
The ZL1 ran on Germany's Automotive Testing Papenburg proving ground, and while it did miss the 200 magic mark for cars, the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 did peak at over 200 in one direction. As per Auto Blog, the ZL1 peaked at 202.3 mph on a single direction. However, since top speed is calculated by taking the average of two opposite-direction runs, the ZL1 resulted to a 198 top speed run. The car's other run that resulted in a 193.3 speed has declined the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 2017's average to below 200.
According to Chevy, the 10-speed automatic transmission test-vehicle carries the same specifications as the stock car. The only difference is that the test car has the required safety gear and the data logging tool. Additionally, the factory Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires were also inflated to 44 psi, which is the recommended condition for high-speed driving. The front and back chambers were also set to 0 degrees for max tire pressure.
As per Motor Trend, Camaro Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser said that the ZL1 is the most capable and fastest Camaro ever. He also said that the car was designed with high-speed performance as a priority. The ZL1 incorporates balanced aerodynamic package that was developed to reduce lift without considerably affecting drag.
The 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 has a starting price of $63,435. The six-speed manual ZL1 is priced at the minimum while the 10-speed automatic is priced at $65,830. The manual model includes the $1300 gas guzzler tax and $995 destination. The automatic ZL1 includes the $2100 gas guzzler tax.
