'Sons Of Anarchy' Spin-Off 'Mayans MC:' How The New Series Is Connected From The Previous Show

The world of California bikers is back on television. "Sons of Anarchy" spinoff "Mayans MC" is set to start production this spring. The new series will take place in the same universe as "Sons of Anarchy." However, how will the two shows be connected? Series creator Kurt Sutter gave some clue.

"Mayans MC" is set post-Jax Teller. It will follow the Reapers former rivals turned allies, the Mayans Motorcycle Club. It will center around a Mayan MC prospect, EZ Reyes on the California/Mexico border. He struggles to seek for vengeance and his need to gain respect from the women he loves.

In a recent interview, Sutter hinted how "Mayans MC" will bridge the gap from "Sons of Anarchy" to keep the continuity of the series. He revealed Emilio Rivera, who played the role of Mayan founder Marcus Alvarez will be the chain between the two.

"When this other project was coming up with the Mayans; he's my linchpin in fusing these two mythologies," Sutter said in an interview with Desde Hollywood according to Comicbook. Marcus Alvarez appeared in all seasons of "Sons of Anarchy" however, it is not officially confirmed yet if he will be making an appearance in the spin-off. "It's so great to be able to work with him again, and be around that energy because it reminds me that this is why we do what we do," Sutter said. This statement led to speculations that the star will be making a brief appearance.

Meanwhile, Charlie Hunnam who previously played the role of Jax Teller on "Sons of Anarchy" revealed his thoughts on "Mayans MC" "I really think that, honestly, anything that Kurt [Sutter] is doing I'm excited about, 'cause I think he's a phenomenal writer and has such a unique voice and vision," the actor told Entertainment Weekly. He added that the idea of focusing on the Mayans is very exciting. "I'll certainly be tuning in," he added.
