Mass Effect Andromeda Will Include Microtransactions; Multiplayer Ties In With Main Campaign

One retailer has detailed how microtransactions will work in Mass Effect Andromeda. This feature will be included in the multiplayer aspect, which is integrated into the main campaign of the game.

Mass Effect Andromeda Multiplayer Details Revealed

According to GameSpot, BioWare finally unveiled the details of Andromeda's multiplayer feature during PAX East 2017. In line with this, the feedback towards the said in-game component was that it felt similar to the third game's multiplayer mode. While this might be good news to some, the previous mechanic still drew in a lot of mixed responses as it forced players to use the online features to achieve the "best" ending.

However, it seems like Mass Effect Andromeda will not be forcing players to do that anymore but will still tie in the mode with the main campaign. Lead designer Ian Frazier explained that the multiplayer feature revolves around something called the "Strike Teams." This unit can be deployed on missions while the Pathfinder is at a different location.

The thing is, players can choose either single-player or multiplayer before deploying their team. If fans chose the former, the team acts as an "AI" with its success rates in missions depending on stats, equipment and the like. Keep note that these missions are in real-time so the time it would take for them to finish will vary.

On the other hand, there are special quests called "Apex Missions," which are more challenging and will be difficult for the AI to complete unless they are high-leveled. In this case, players can opt to pick the multiplayer feature where they themselves will be deployed on the mission. The single-player campaign will automatically quick-save and fans can match-make with their friends or host/join a public game.

Frazier noted that the transition between the single-player main mode to multiplayer mission will be seamless. Furthermore, he believes that the Strike Team missions also feel "appropriate to the content" of the main plot. This way, the developers made a set up where fans can still reap all the rewards even if they only choose to play the single-player mode.

Microtransactions With The Multiplayer Mode

Similarly, GameZone reports that retailer ShopTo.net has listed "microtransactions" with the upcoming game. These will allow players to spend real money for in-game currency, which players can use to buy packs that give them better items in multiplayer. Seeing as the game has no competitive online features, it seems like microtransactions will not break any balance within the game.

Moreover, these Mass Effect Andromeda microtransactions will cost around $4 to $80, although, BioWare has yet to release any new information regarding this. Fans can play the game once it launches on March 21 for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
