Sony Xperia XZ Price Cut By $180 As XZ Premium Release Date Looms

The Sony Xperia XZ is getting a major price cut in India. The price of the flagship smartphone from Sony will now be 12,000 Indian Rupees cheaper. That's roughly an impressive 180 U.S. dollars less. The Xperia XZ is now being offered for a much lower price since its successor, the Xperia XZ Premium, is about to be launched in a few months.

The Sony Xperia XZ is originally priced at ₹51,990 in India or around $795 if converted to US denomination. With the price cut, the Indian market can collar the remarkable smartphone for only ₹39,990 or roughly $610. As mentioned, the discounted Xperia XZ is only available in India. GoAndroid showed the post which apparently was taken from the Amazon website. The post indicated that the Xperia XZ handset being offered at a discounted price comes in the Forest Blue color. There's no word yet if the discount will also be applied in the United States or other parts of the word where the device is offered.

Sony released the Xperia XZ on Sept. 30, 2016, with an introductory price of $700 which is something not taken lightly by critics. The Xperia XZ is a bit too pricey for a smartphone that did not utilize a QHD display. As noted by Android Authority, the U.S. model lacked a fingerprint sensor which was a head-scratcher considering other models got the feature. Another issue with the Xperia XZ was its weak front speakers. Despite being nowhere near perfect, the Xperia XZ is still considered one of the best smartphones to come out of Sony's stable.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is coming in a few months as indicated by some retailers in the United Kingdom which have already opened their lines for fans to pre-order the highly-anticipated handset. The price of the Xperia XZ Premium was also divulged by the retailers which pegged the smartphone at £640 to £650 which are roughly $779 to $791.
