The Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Packs Much In A Small Frame
The Mazda Miata has become a classic in its own right. For 2017, the new iteration of the Miata has not lost the principle that Mazda has for it, which is that the car and driver must be one. The Mazda MX-5 Miata RF is one little car that gives joy in a small frame.
The new Miata is a convertible coupe. It has what is called the Power Retractable Hardtop (PRHT). The new Miata then is comfortable with its roof on, or else driving down the road as a convertible. To get this roof up, the driver will have to activate the console-mounted roof button.
With the roof on, the Miata is much quieter. A thick headliner together with sound-deadening material gives the car a quiet ride. Even raising and folding the roof back as become much more quiet.
With the roof down though, the new Miata RF can be noisy inside the cabin. Wind noise can go inside the cabin. This can be deflected somewhat if the side windows are raised. Wind noise can go much higher as speed goes up as well.
The new MX-5 Miata RF doesn't have the open space feeling of the previous variant, according to the New York Daily News. That is because there is a leftover of the rear window, unlike in the previous Miata where the whole roof together with the rear window is folded in. Unlike the previous one, the new Miata has a solid, folding roof which then explains its fixed rear window as well.
Two variants of the new Miata are being offered. The two variants are Club and Touring variants. Price for the new Miata would start at $32,430. Those looking for the more base Sport variant might be out of luck, as it won't be offered with the model, Car and Driver reports.
For power, the Miata has a 155 hp, 2.0 liter four cylinder engine. That gives the car enough speed to be quick and fun to drive. For people who might want to add more, a Brembo/BBS package is also available for the GT version. This would give it upgraded Brembo brakes and calipers as well as forged aluminum wheels.
Driving couldn't be more fun, and the Mazda MX-5 Miata RF provides it. The new Miata is one car that gives joy to in its small frame. A classic has become modern with the new Camaro ZL1.
