Here's How Rainbow Six Siege Is Fixing Its Matchmaking On The Technical Test Servers

Rainbow Six Siege is taking some necessary steps in order to fix its matchmaking system. On the other hand, the Pro League will now only be limited to PC players.

Technical Test Server On Rainbow Six Siege

According to PVP Live, the Technical Test Severs are making their way to the first-person shooter in order to stimulate a controlled test environment for future features and changes towards gameplay. This certain environment is quite similar to that of the Public Test Realms (PTR) of Overwatch, which gave the game the chance to smooth out its various bugs, and glitches before it hit the live servers. In line with this, Siege's first Technical Test Server is launching later this month in the West Europe Region.

However, just like the PTR, this server will only be limited to the PC version. Despite its current limited availability, Ubisoft plans to expand the regions soon enough. That aside, the first phase the studio will focus on is the "One Step Matchmaking."

With this in mind, this new matchmaking feature will no longer pit two separate teams against each other. Instead, the game will assemble 10 players and automatically assign teams. Similarly, players will now be able to browse through the main menus even while in matchmaking. Those who want to browse through the store or adjust their characters while waiting will now have the chance to do so.

Each phase in the new server will focus on changing different aspects of the game. These updated features range from the said matchmaking, skill balances or ever character weapons. Those who choose to participate in the test servers will have access to all the characters and items for free but will not be transferred over to the live servers.

Limiting The Competitive Scene To PC

That aside, Ubisoft has recently announced that they are limiting the competitive scene to PC players only, effectively dropping the Xbox One platform. They explained that this course of action will help propagate the development of the competition, as per VG247. Even so, the top placing team will still earn the $100,000 grand prize.

Fans will be able to play on the Technical Test Server along with trying out the new matchmaking system. Those who are interested in Rainbow Six Siege can play the game on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
