BlackBerry Z10 Phablet Successor To Have 5-Inch Display (Rumor)

If you wished the BlackBerry Z10 had a larger display than its 4.2-inch screen, there's a new report indicating that the next-generation BlackBerry Z10 is currently being tested internally with a 5-inch screen.

BlackBerry has been making sure to cover its bases with its most recent BlackBerry 10 smartphones.  We reviewed the BlackBerry Z10 and came away very impressed with the smartphone and BlackBerry 10 operating system. The BlackBerry Q10 has been selling very well and sold out in record time in some places in the UK. The just-announced BlackBerry Q5 is similar to the Q10, but with a focus on delivering a low-cost QWERTY BB10 smartphone targeted at emerging markets.. We have also seen a leaked BlackBerry roadmap, which, if true, shows that BlackBerry still plans on releasing a few more BB10 devices in 2013.

According to Know Your Mobile, sources have told the site that BlackBerry is currently testing a 5-inch BlackBerry Z10.  It is said that the smartphone shares 5-inch display similar to the one found on the Samsung Galaxy S4. The source also told the site that BlackBerry is hard at work on improving the battery life of the device, and that the smartphone is also currently being tested by an unnamed Canadian wireless carrier.

The source claims that BlackBerry will officially launch the 5-inch BlackBerry Z10 successor within the next few months. If this report is valid, it could really help BlackBerry build up the market share it has lost over the years. BlackBerry might be following in Samsung's footsteps of flooding the market with as many smartphones as possible in order to increase market share. It worked for Samsung; it remains to be seen how it will work for BlackBerry.

If this rumor is true, having a 5-inch display would be the perfect screen to really take advantage of BlackBerry 10's gesture-driven operating system. As with all rumors, though, take this one with a huge grain of salt.
