“The Originals” just came back with a new episode that kicked off its fourth season. The production has teased the new season to be a dark and dangerous one. One of the show runners was able to share tidbits about the latest season, revealing a character’s death and the real deal behind the sigils.

Hope Got Strange Drawing Symbols

In “The Originals” Season 4 Episode 1, the Mikaelsons are getting back one by one after being asleep for five years and everyone is gearing up for revenge and most likely to take back their beloved city. However, Hope has been acting weird all of a sudden by the end of the episode. She has been drawing symbols that have also been appearing all over New Orleans.

One of the executive producers, Michael Narducci, revealed that the symbols or sigils will have a crucial role in this season. He said that whatever Hope’s drawing is some sort of a key that will unlock the whole mystery cloaked around “The Originals” Season 4. He also explained that the drawing is the circular symbol of an ouroboros, which can either be a snake or a dragon eating itself, starting from its tail.

Alistair Is As Good As Gone—Forever

Alistair is a vampire introduced in the first episode of “The Originals” Season 4. He came to the season prancing about, looking for Klaus, who Marcel then gives up. Alistair has been holding a grudge against Klaus for compelling him to kill his own family so he was keen on giving Klaus a slow and painful death. Unfortunately, Klaus bites Alistair and that’s the end of him.

Narducci confirmed that Alistair won’t be around anymore so fans won't be seeing any more of him in the future. He further explained how Alistair's role gave Marcel more power and trust from the vampires, giving him the authority to keep an eye on Klaus, who goes haywire once in a while. Narducci also revealed that Marcel is keeping Klaus locked up because he might use Klaus’s blood as a cure or an antidote but as to what kind of epidemic, that has yet to be determined in the show.
