Pokemon GO: Shiny Magikarp And Gyarados Are Finally Here!

The wait is finally over as Niantic finally debuts the first shiny Pokémon, shiny Magikarp. The unveiling was part of the new event called Water Festival, where Water-type Pokémon would spawn a lot faster. One of this Water Pokémon is Magikarp and its evolved form, Gyarados. Aside from increased sightings, a lot of players have reported that they've spotted shiny Magikarp alongside the event. Is this the beginning of the introduction of shiny status in Pokémon GO?

Pokémon GO : Shiny Magikarp And Gyarados

For months, players have been asking for the introduction of shiny Pokémon in the game. With the introduction of Gen 2, it was apparent that sooner or later, Niantic will incorporate shiny Pokémon from the original series. Although news regarding the feature remained shrouded in mystery, it seems that Niantic had finally broken the ice today with their Water Festival event as shiny Magikarp was spotted all around the globe.

First leaked on GOHub, the shiny Magikarp was thought to be a free give-away on the event. It turns out that Water Festival only increases the players' chances of finding Water-type Pokémon - including shiny ones. As of the time of this writing, players have already caught both shiny Magikarp and shiny Gyarados in the wild. However, it is still unclear as to how high the chances are of encountering one in the wild as some say that they have not found the aforementioned shiny pocket monsters yet.

Pokémon GO : Dawn Of Shiny Pokémon?

Although Niantic has been fairly reticent with their upcoming updates, it's imminent that the company will soon incorporate shiny status on all Pokémon in the game. Players can expect that soon, they will be seeing shiny Pokémon in the wild. As for the release date, it is highly likely that Niantic will unveil the new feature with their second major update, which is expected to come in less than two weeks.
