Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Leak Shows Monster Specs

A new leak which recently surfaced showed the possible specs of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. The leak came from an online retailer called GearBest. The said retailer listed the still unavailable phablet on its website which later garnered mixed actions from tech enthusiasts and pundits.

First of all, the image on the listing is likely fake. As GSM Arena pointed out, the rendered image is "clearly a mockup". It came to that conclusion after doubting that Xiaomi would develop a phablet with the face made entirely of its display. As seen on the listing, the supposed Mi Mix 2 is all screen and no bezels. There's not even a front-facing camera which is quite unbelievable considering front cameras have been a staple on smartphones and phablets for years.

As for the listed specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 would simply be awesome provided the details are true. The Mi Mix 2, according to GearBest, will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The only device to have the latest processor is the Samsung Galaxy S8 and it does so because it got exclusive rights to the chipset. A few other smartphones are rumored to be coming with the Snapdragon 835 - the OnePlus 5, the Sony XZ Premium, and another upcoming Xiaomi device, the Mi 6.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will also come with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage though there are options for an 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM variant as well as a 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM version. The device supposedly available at GearBest comes in White though there is also an option for a Black model which is highly likely. The phablet will apparently run on MIUI 9 atop Android 7.1 and possibly have a 6.4-inch display as well as an impressive 19-megapixel rear camera. While it is not indicated in the listing, the display could possibly be a 1440 x 2540 AMOLED one while the Mi Mix 2 may also come with a 13-megapixel front-facing camera, according to Phone Arena.
