Samsung to launch new Galaxy and ATIV devices at June 20 London event: What to expect

Samsung has scheduled a Galaxy and ATIV press event on June 20 in London. The smartphone maker's invite for the event has a few teaser images of some of the devices Samsung is expected to announce and/or reveal at the event.

While the teaser images in the invite gives us only a little glimpse of what to expect, we have some ideas of some of the new hardware Samsung could possibly announce at its upcoming event - the new devices will be from Samsung's Galaxy and ATIV series. The Galaxy line is going to be Android devices and the ATIV line is Samsung's Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows Phone-based hardware. Here's some information on some of the devices we might see unveiled.

We've been reporting on some rumored Galaxy smartphones and tablets Samsung will likely announce at this event. The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini is Samsung's answer for people who like the looks and features of the Galaxy S4 but not its size. The Galaxy S4 mini looks like a shrunk Galaxy S4 and is expected to have a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, and a 5-megapixel rear camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is expected to be Samsung's answer to Sony's Xperia Z. The Galaxy S4 Active will reportedly be Samsung's first waterproof and dustproof smartphone. The device will also include another first for Samsung, a metal shell that will make the smartphone tough enough to live up to the Active name. The Galaxy S4 Active is expected to share the same 5-inch full HD display of the Galaxy S4. The smartphone is also rumored to be powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core processor and also feature an 8-megapixel rear camera.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom will be another Galaxy S4 variant and, as its name suggests, will be geared towards camera aficionados. The Galaxy S4 Zoom is expected to feature a whopping 16-megapixel rear camera with optical zoom. The device is also rumored to also include a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is rumored to be Samsung's first Galaxy Tab to feature a blazing fast Intel Atom processor. The latest rumors have the tablet being powered by a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom processor with Hyper-Threading technology. Leaked benchmarks of the Galaxy Tab 3 make it the fastest Android tablet on the market.

We haven't heard too many rumors about upcoming ATIV devices, but, going by Samsung's invite, we should expect to see some new Windows 8 laptops unveiled and a possible 8-inch Windows RT tablet. Samsung is also expected to release an updated ATIV Windows Phone 8 smartphone.

Samsung will be livestreaming the event on its YouTube channel beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET. We'll be covering the event live and will be bringing you all the latest news as it happens.
