iPhone 6 to come with curved display and 3D camera?

Apple is widely expected to unveil its next-gen iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 6, in the coming months, possibly June with the smartphone hitting the shelves in July. Now designer Ran Avni has come up with a concept of the iPhone 6, which imagines the smartphone with a curved display and 3D camera.

While smartphones that can take 3D images are already available in the market (HTC EVO 3D and LG Thrill), they are yet to make a strong impact.

Ran Avni takes the concept of 3D imagery and has included it in his iPhone 6 prototype. Avni, along with Hassan Cad, gives us a peek into what is his take on the iPhone 6.

The designer shows off the iPhone 6 with its curved display in a less-than-a-minute long video. Design-wise, the svelte iPhone 6 prototype features a curved display, which is perhaps inspired by Samsung's "Youm" flexible display which the Korean giant unveiled at the International CES in January this year.

The iPhone 6 render features a pair of white borders next to the edge-to-edge screen. The concept shows the iPhone 6 with a 4.8-inch display and a new design. The screen surprisingly does not look too huge or makes the device look bulky. The smartphone seems to get thinner in the middle and the screen seems concave.

The concept also features a 3.2-megapixel front-facing FaceTime HD camera and a 8-megapixel rear-facing 3D camera. The smartphone also touts a two-tone black and white back.

While the notion of a 3D camera has raised eyebrows, the likelihood of the rumored feature making an appearance in the next-gen iPhone seems unlikely. Chances of Apple incorporating features like water and dust resistance seem more plausible, or perhaps humidity sensors like the Samsung Galaxy S4. Apple could also incorporate Air View/Gesture View like Samsung has in the next-gen smartphone.

With so many speculations and concept renders doing the rounds, it will be interesting to see what features the iPhone 6 eventually imbibes.
