Google Pixel 2 vs iPhone 8 vs OnePlus 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S8: Battle Of 2017 Ultimate Flagships

After the huge success of Google's first-gen Pixel smartphones, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, the search giant is now working on gearing out its second iteration, the Google Pixel 2 expected to be unveiled sometime in October. Another highly anticipated next-gen flagship killer, OnePlus 5 has been making headlines and expected to be launched in June 2017.

While this year will be the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, and everyone is anticipating that Apple will unveil a phone that has been widely dubbed the iPhone 8 and could be the "revolutionary" iPhone Apple fans have been waiting for. Samsung's latest Galaxy S8 is one of the best-selling, powerful smartphones on the market right now.

Google Pixel 2

The next gen pixel will feature an improved chipset and camera, which could justify the rumored higher price.  Google Pixel 2 is set to feature an OLED display, curved with "Infinity Displays." It will be powered by 1.9GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor chip with 4GB of RAM capacity. According to reports, the new Pixel phone will be a budget-friendly device. The next Google phone will be the first to ship with Android 8.0 or Android 0. We might also see a 4K display on the Pixel 2, Daydream ready and Quick Charge 4.0. Google Pixel 2. A possible $650 USD price tag for the upcoming device is likely to hit the market.

OnePlus 5

The smartphone is expected to come with a 5.5-inch dual-curved edge AMOLED display with a sleek design with slimmer bezels. It will be fueled by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 along with the Adreno 540 GPU, 8GB RAM, a 3,000 mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor at the back of the phone. The OnePlus 5 is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. However, in China, it will run on the Hydrogen OS. The OnePlus 5 will likely come in two storage variants - with 64GB and 128GB of internal storage.  OnePlus' flagship killer would come with a dual camera setup on the back with a 25-megapixel main camera and a 16-megapixel camera on the front. 

Samsung Galaxy S8

Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and sports a 12-megapixel dual pixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and 8-megapixel front camera with autofocus. The Galaxy S8 is powered by Qualcomm's latest and powerful Snapdragon 835 SoC in the US, and Exynos 8895 SoC for international markets. The stunning device is matched with 4GB of RAM and with 64GB inbuilt storage, that supports expandable storage via microSD card up to 256GB. Price is between $750-$850 depending on the variant.

Apple iPhone 8

The next-gen iPhone will have a larger 5.8in display, "edge-to-edge" and slightly curved. The iPhone 8 will have the Touch ID sensor embedded into the screen. Reports suggest there will be a "function area" at the bottom of the screen that acts slightly like the Touch Bar on the MacBook Pro. More so, Apple will use USB-C instead of Lightning on the next-gen iPhone in order to introduce fast charging. Another report says that the iPhone 8 will offer only two capacities, the 64GB and 256GB and will also have 3GB of RAM. The iPhone 8 is anticipated to include an Apple A11 processor built on a 10nm process to match the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. The iPhone will be more expensive than this year's release, and reports claim that the highest-spec model will be the first iPhone to cost more than $1,000.

Verdict

The OnePlus 5 has the upper hand among the four when it comes to RAM size. It all boils down to the price, which plays a major role in the whole comparison. The OnePlus 5 could come out as an alternative to this year's biggest smartphones. It will likely be priced under $500. Clearly, OnePlus 5 comes with a much practical price yet still powerful enough to truly take on Google Pixel 2, Apple iPhone 8 And Samsung S8.
