Google announces new Gmail inbox experience for iOS, Android, and the Web (Video)

Google is trying to make our lives and inboxes easier to manage with its latest Gmail update for iOS, Android, and the Web.

Google knows that our inbox has become a chore to manage. Our inbox is our centralized location for important emails, social updates, deals, and more. Sometimes trying to sift through what's important and all our other messages can make the experience feel overwhelming at times. The inbox can be filled with important messages from family, friends, and work, along with less important messages like deals, promotions and more. Sometimes, the inbox can feel like it's going to overflow unless we take the time to go through each message and bring that unread count down to zero.  So, wouldn't it be nice to have your inbox be easily organized so you can focus on what's really important? If you answered yes, Google has got you covered with this update.

The latest update provides a new Gmail inbox experience. The update primarily focuses on organizing email by different categories, allowing you to be able to quickly glance at information by category and letting you decide which messages you want to, or should read.

Gmail's new interface will allow you to customize your inbox experience by using a tabbed category interface. The categories include Primary, Social, Promotions, and Updates. Users can easily navigate through what's important and what could be dealt with later. The new design allows Gmail to be very customizable by giving users the ability to drag and drop messages between tabs and allowing users to set certain emails to always appear in a particular category. The new setup will let you organize messages and handle what you want when you want.

Don't worry - if you prefer the classic inbox experience you're already used to with Gmail, it's still available and accessible. You can easily switch off the category tabs and go back to the classic view inbox experience. Google says that it will be rolling out the Gmail update gradually, and iOS, Android, and Gmail Web users will receive the update over the next few weeks.
