iTunes 11.0.4 released: Here's a look at the improvements and fixes

Apple rolled out an update for iTunes, Wednesday, June 5 and brought the software version to 11.0.4. This release complements the earlier 11.0.3 version that was rolled out in May.

The update fixed a bug that causes the program to quit when switching between wireless and wired syncing. It also solved a problem requiring users to sign-in again and again on the iTunes Store.

The newest version of the iTunes also came with a new miniplayer, improved songs view, and multi-disc albums, according to the official release note on Apple's website.

The miniplayer now features the album artwork and a built-in progress bar. The album artwork can now be seen while in the Songs view. The music albums that come with multiple discs now appear as one album.

The iTunes version 11.0.4 can now be downloaded from the Software Download Page of Apple, Software Update and the Mac App Store. Users can also launch iTunes and get the update by going to the iTunes tab and manually checking for updates. There are also versions for Windows 32-bit and 64-bit.

As of reporting, there was no statement from Apple if the new version also addressed any security-related issues.

It seems iTunes users are pleased with the latest release as reflected by comments on different blogs.

"No more constantly asking for my password! I am so happy. Also, love the new mini-player that was introduced in the last update," a reader commented on MacRumors.

"Hopefully this fixes AppleTV connectivity again. It seems a regular occurrence for me that my AppleTV / Airport Extreme don't wake up my iMac when I want to watch something and I need to manually wake it up and sometimes even quit/restart iTunes. Then there's an iTunes update and it works. Then there's an update and it's broken again. The last update broke it, so maybe this is the lucky update!" mikehild commented on an article on Tuaw.

The version 11.0.3 released in May already featured most of the 11.0.4 updates such as the miniplayer featuring the album artwork, multiple disc view, and expandable view for the miniplayer where users can see their entire song list. The Update Software feature was also integrated in version 11.0.3. The primary issues addressed in 11.0.4 are complaints about syncing and repeated sign-in when accessing the iTunes Store.
