HTC Butterfly S and Desire 600 set for June 19 launch

Speculations surrounding the release of a new smartphone from Taiwan-based HTC, dubbed the HTC Butterfly S, have been doing the rounds of late. Now word's on the street that the HTC Butterfly S will launch on June 19 in Taiwan, accompanied by the Desire 600.

The HTC Butterfly S is widely believed to be the successor of the HTC Butterfly or Droid DNA which released in Dec. 2012. The latest information is courtesy of Sogi, a Taiwanese site which has received invite for the June 19 press event, during which the smartphone is expected to be released alongside the HTC Desire 600 (which was officially announced in May).

Earlier in May, we reported that HTC was poised to release the successor of the HTC Butterfly, the HTC Butterfly S, in mid June.

The Butterfly S is speculated to tout a 5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels like its predecessor. It will allegedly benefit from only minor upgrades when compared to the HTC Butterfly.

The impending HTC smartphone, however, will have an improved camera - most likely an UltraPixel one like the flagship HTC One. The Butterfly S is also conjectured to get a bump in battery with the capacity seeing an increase. The smartphone will also benefit from additional memory support via a microSD card slot.

The HTC Desire 600, on the other hand, was announced earlier in May this year and will be a mid-range dual-SIM smartphone. It sports a 4.5-inch qHD display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone also boasts 1GB of RAM, 8GB of on-board memory and will run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.0 UI on top.

The Desire 600 will feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.6-megapixel secondary camera. The device will pack in an 1860mAh battery,

With two HTC smartphones readying for a June release, smartphone fans will have additional Android-powered devices to choose from. Come June 19, we'll get to know what surprises HTC has up its sleeve.
