Motorola not to launch Moto X on July 11

Speculations surrounding Motorola's impending Android-powered Moto X smartphone have been gathering momentum of late. Now new images of the alleged Moto X smartphone which show off the front and rear panels have leaked online and a new report suggests that the device will not launch later this week as previously conjectured.

Recently, we reported that Motorola has a press event slated for July 11, where the company could take the wraps off the Moto X phone. However, now a CNET report reveals that the smartphone may not debut this week as the site's sources have disclosed that "Motorola has something else to share with journalists" at the July 10/July 11 event.

"Despite speculation that Google could be planning to reveal the Moto X at a special media event next week, a source tells CNET that the Motorola event is actually about something else besides the company's first big Android release as a Google company," reports CNET.

This news will disappoint many Motorola fans who have been waiting for the device's launch for sometime now. For now, fans will simply have to contend with feasting their eyes on the leaked images of the rear and back panels of the smartphone.

The leaked images are courtesy of GforGames which got the images from different sources during "the last several days."

The images suggest that the Moto X will have an edge-to-edge display with small bezels and will be offered in white and black (in addition to the rumored different palette of colors). The front panels have leaked in both white and black, whereas the rear has popped up only in black. The front panel reveals space for the secondary camera, speaker and sensors. The back of the Moto X shows the primary camera and flash.

"The only thing that stands out is that the black Moto X front panel features the new Motorola logo while the white front panels seem to be blank. However, the black one is probably destined for internal testing, given the appearance of what looks like a serial number," notes GforGames.

Whether the Moto X makes an appearance on July 11 or later in August remains to be seen. For now we'll have to take the rumors with a pinch of salt.
