Dr Disrespect and Twitch Settle Lawsuit After Ban — Will He Come Back?

Dr Disrespect has finally settled its legal dispute with Twitch.

Guy Beahm, also known as Dr Disrespect by fans of his streaming, has pursued legal actions in 2021 against Twitch after banning him permanently from the platform.

Beahm said he did not know for so long why he was banned. After finally knowing the reason last year, he decided to sue Twitch.

However, both parties are still not disclosing any information on why it happened.

Dr Disrespect and Twitch Lawsuit

Dr Disrespect is moving on. Guy Beahm, one of the most popular streamers on Twitch, posted on Twitter stating that the legal dispute is now settled. Dr Disrespect posted "I have resolved my legal dispute with Twitch. No party admits to any wrongdoing."

In June 2020, Dr Disrespect disappeared from Twitch after the streaming company imposed a permanent ban on him. This is Dr Disrespect's second ban from the platform. He was also banned in June 2019.

Unfortunately, the ban he received in 2020 was the second and last one. He will not be returning to Twitch.

As reported by PC Gamer, Dr Disrespect moved on to streaming on YouTube Gaming. He stated and clarified with his audience that he still does not know the reason behind the permanent ban he received from Twitch, even after a few months have passed since the Twitch ban.

A year after his permanent ban from the streaming platform, he brought in his legal team to handle the situation. Beahm claimed that the loss of his Twitch channel had not only harmed his financial well-being but had also caused him serious reputational harm.

According to the Doc's social media post, neither he nor Twitch were willing to admit any wrongdoing, and the streamer stated that he is "moving on."

Dr Disrespect confirmed in a follow-up post that, despite the dispute being resolved, he will not be returning to Twitch. He intends to continue streaming on YouTube Gaming in the future.

Prior to his suspension, Doc was one of the highest-paid content creators on Twitch, earning more than $30,000- $35,000 a month from paid subscription alone.

However, even if the legal dispute has already been settled, both Twitch and Dr Disrespect are still silent about what has truly caused the ban.

Dr Disrespect's Permanent Ban on Twitch

It was in August 2021 during a YouTube stream of Dr Disrespect that he first opened up about suing Twitch for the permanent ban he received.

He also stated during the livestream on YouTube that he has known the reason behind his ban for quite some time, "I've known for months now, the reason why."

He also then proceeded to say, "And I'll just say this right now, champs. There's a reason why we're suing the fuck out of them. I don't know how else to put it."

It was the first time that Dr Disrespect revealed that Twitch did not reach out before and after the ban.

According to Polygon, Dr Disrespect added that there was no communication between him and Twitch which he found suspicious. He stated, "As far as I'm concerned, we didn't do anything to warrant a ban, let alone how they went about banning us," he said. "No communication before, no reaching out, nothing."

After that stream broke out, Twitch announced in August that it would improve the ban notifications it sends to suspended streamers by including the date of the violation as well as the name of the content that violated the rules.
