Unreal Engine 5

The most notable bit of information about the new The Witcher game is the fact that it is in development using the Unreal Engine 5. According to the announcement by CD Projekt, this is because of the partnership between the company with Epic Games.

"This new relationship with Epic covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant," the announcement reads.

CTO of CD PROJEKT RED, Paweł Zawodny, was quoted in the announcement, saying that "This cooperation is so exciting, because it will elevate development predictability and efficiency, while simultaneaously granting us access to cutting-edge game development tools."

It should be noted that the game developer previously used its own REDengine technology when building games.
