Sonos to Release a New Soundbar This June — How Much Will It Be?

Sonos is nearing the release of its all-new entry-level soundbar. The new Sonos soundbar is codenamed "Fury" and is officially known as the model S36.

Aside from their quality, the Sonos soundbars are also known for their hefty price tags, such as the Beam soundbar, which costs $449, and the Arc soundbar, priced at $899.

Sonos is not exactly known for its affordability, but the company has introduced a few more affordable products in recent years, such as the Roam portable speaker, that are worth considering.

It is reported that Fury will be the first affordable device in a series of new products from Sonos.

Sonos Soundbar Fury Features

Sonos soundbar Fury is expected to cost around $250. This price tag makes it significantly less expensive than the $449 second-generation Beam and the $899 Arc. That is significantly less expensive than any Sonos soundbar that has been released to date.

As Engadget reports, for the features that Sonos will consider leaving out in order to achieve this lower price point, the Fury will not be able to output Dolby Atmos content like the Beam and Arc, and it may even lack an HDMI port altogether.

Aside from that, it is also reported that the Fury soundbar will not have built-in microphones for a voice assistant feature.

Consequently, it contains significantly fewer speaker drivers than other Sonos soundbars. When combined with other Sonos speakers that are compatible with it, it will be able to function as a component of a 5.1 surround sound system.

Sonos appears to be skipping the inclusion of microphones for a voice assistant on this model in this price range. Which is similar to what they did with the $159 Sonos Roam SL that was just released last month.

The soundbar will be 550 x 69 x 100mm (WxDxH) in size and will appear to have only two front-firing drivers.

Among the potentially interesting features is that Sonos will allow the Fury to function as rear surround speakers for a larger soundbar such as the Arc. It's because of this that Sonos is making vertical stands for the Fury, which lets it be used with Dolby Atmos content.

Sonos is entering the affordable soundbar market by releasing Fury at $250, an excellent entry point into the company's ecosystem.

Sonos "Fury" Soundbar Release Date

Sonos will release its first budget-friendly soundbar in the first week of June. According to The Verge, it will be held on June 7, which is just a few months away from now.

However, even though Sonos' entry-level soundbars may not have all of the features found in their more expensive soundbars, they should still sound better than their price point. It should be noted, however, that Sonos has not yet issued an official confirmation of the Fury soundbar. This would mean that more details and specifications are still to come.

Other Sonos products that are still in the works include a smaller, more affordable subwoofer (the S37), as well as the company's long-rumored wireless headphones. It will be the first time Sonos has made a new product category since making portable speakers with the Move and Roam.
