Warner Bros.' Smash Bros-esque fighter game has recently made some big waves.

The company recently released a new trailer for its free-to-play crossover brawler MultiVersus along with a confirmation of the date of its first open beta.

The game was previously rumored to be in development in 2021, with the game featuring various characters under the Warner Bros. trademark.

Warner Bros. Multiversus new Trailer Details

The game's latest trailer revealed that several characters from various Warner Bros. franchises would be available to play in the game. These characters include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Finn the Human, Jake the Dog, Bugs Bunny, Taz the Tazmanian Devil, Tom and Jerry, Reindog, Garnet, Velma, and Shaggy in his normal and "ultra instinct" modes, as the meme goes.

Polygon also mentioned in its article that the game would also feature "Game of Thrones'" Arya Stark. The Iron Giant will also make an appearance in the game but has since been a controversial pick by Warner Bros., considering the character being strongly opposed to violence, and it is taught not to use its built-in weaponry, per Game Rant.

Based on the game's choice of characters, it isn't farfetched to see other characters from IPs under Warner Bros. be added into the game before and after MultiVersus is released.

The new trailer also mentioned that MultiVersus' closed alpha would begin on May 19. Meanwhile, its open beta will be launching in July, though when in July is unknown at the time of this article's publication.

MultiVersus Closed Alpha Features

According to Eurogamer's article, MultiVersus' closed alpha will allow players to get access to the previously mentioned characters to play on maps that include Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion, Adventure Time's Tree Fort, and the Batcave.

However, Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Arya Stark, Steven Universe, and Garnet will be initially unavailable at the start but can be unlocked over time during gameplay.

The closed beta will also include 1v1 matches, 4-player free-for-alls, and 2v2 team-based co-op, which is the game's primary mode.

If you're interested in participating in the game's closed alpha, you will have to sign up at the game's official website to do so, with registration ending on May 19.

Getting selected to participate in the game's closed alpha will also allow you to invite up to three friends to try the game with you, per a separate Eurogamer article. To do so, follow the instructions below:

  1. Select "Beta Management" from the left menu
  2. Head over to the MultiVersus section
  3. Click "Invite a Friend"
  4. Copy the full URL and send it to a friend privately

Other Rumored Characters

Gamerant previously mentioned in its article that the game might also feature Gandalf from "The Lord of the Rings," (though it isn't clear which Gandalf will the game feature) and NBA superstar LeBron James.

However, as these characters are only rumored to be added in the game, it isn't clear if and when they'll be added to MultiVersus.
