Netflix Is Preparing Another Sci-Fi Time Travel Show From the Makers of ‘Stranger Things’

Netflix is preparing another sci-fi-centered show in cooperation with 21 Laps.

The production company responsible for Stranger Things, 21 Laps, is working with Netflix on another sci-fi project.

Both Netflix and 21 Laps are committed to continuing their work in the supernatural genre.

Gemma Chan, who was previously seen in Eternals, will star in this new series, which will be executive produced by Shawn Levy, who directed multiple episodes of Stranger Things.

Gemma Chan played a superhero in the MCU film centered on a band of immortal heroes from beyond the stars who have been protecting humanity since the beginning of time.

Her role now will not be far from that of playing a supernatural phenomenon in this brewing show.

Netflix's Newest Sci-Fi Show

Netflix and 21 Labs have entered another supernatural and comprehensive partnership. The production company has chosen The Moon Represents My Heart to be adapted into the next show intended for Netflix.

The Moon Represents My Heart is an upcoming debut novel by Pim Wangtechawat, which will be developed as a limited series project on the streaming platform.

On behalf of Liza DeBlock at Mushens Entertainment, Grandview was responsible for selling the option rights.

Furthermore, Chan will also serve as an executive producer alongside Josh Barry.

According to Gamesradar, the production company's Senior Vice President, Emily Morris, was the one who brought the book to the streamer, where it was subsequently optioned following a competitive process.

The plot of the book revolves around a British-Chinese family that possesses a hidden ability to travel through time.

When the parents disappear, the children search for them throughout time as they grow into adults themselves. Emily Morris will also oversee this project alongside Moera Ainai.

The Hollywood Reporter stated as a fact that The Moon Represents My Heart is also the title of a Mandarin pop classic that was made famous by Teresa Teng in 1977.

The book will be published in the spring of 2019 in the United Kingdom by OneWorld Publications, and the Italian rights have been sold to Keller Editore.

As mentioned, Shawn Levy will also be among this show's executive producers. Levy has a long-standing relationship with producing for Netflix.

The Adam Project, which Levy directed for Netflix not too long ago, also involves travel through time.

In addition, Levy directed episodes of Stranger Things season 4, which is available on streaming currently and has become one of the most popular sci-fi films on the platform right now.

Levy is also tasked with directing Deadpool 3 soon. However, there has been no announcement regarding who will direct the upcoming adaptation that will be available on Netflix.

Netflix's Stranger Things Season 4

Netflix's Stranger Things has been one hot topic as it reaches its season finale.

For this current season, the Duffer Brothers have prepared long, movie-like episodes for the viewers. Some say each episode can be treated as a movie in itself.

When it comes to the visuals, the second volume of this season delivers a blockbuster experience that is packed with incredible special effects.

In the first seven episodes of the fourth season of Stranger Things, the focus was entirely on growth. There are multiple storylines that interact with one another; the main characters are all dealing with the aftermath of what happened at Starcourt Mall; and all the while, a new threat is developing in the town of Hawkins.
