Moto X listed on Best Buy with $199.99 price tag

Best Buy has now listed the recently-launched Motorola Moto X, which is available at a price tag of $199.99.

Motorola launched the much-awaited Moto X on Aug. 1 and the company announced that the handset will be available from late August or early September this year. Even though the company didn't announce an exact release date for the handset, rumors suggest that the latest smartphone will launch on major U.S. carriers on Aug. 23.

Best Buy has listed the 16GB version of the Moto X for Verizon, Sprint and AT&T, offering the handset for $199.99 on a two-year contract. The retailer has listed the Woven Black and Woven White color options for all the three carriers. It seems that the Verizon version of the handset will be available in stores only. Best Buy has put a "coming soon" label on the AT&T and Sprint models of the device and the smartphone should be available for pre-order soon.

One of the key features of the Moto X,  which may attract many customers, is that the handset is customizable to a certain extent. However, the customization tool for the Moto X, the MotoMaker, will be initially available only via AT&T.

"Your Moto X is truly yours, because you design it. Through our online studio, Moto Maker, you choose the colors, and decide on the details: front, back, accents, memory, wallpapers, even add a name or a short message. When you're done, we assemble your Moto X right here in the USA and ship it to you for free in 4 days or less," notes Motorola in a blog post.

Customers can personalize their Moto X and select from 22 phone backs (four of which are made of actual wood), seven accent colors, a white or black face plate, a white or black wall charger and 16GB or 32GB internal storage option.

The Moto X features top-end features but it remains to be seen if the handset can live up to the hype and is able to make a place for itself in the highly-competitive smartphone space.
