Disney has announced that "Lightyear" is coming to Disney+ on August 3, just 47 days after it was released in theaters, as per CNET.

Stream 'Lightyear' in Disney+ Next Month

"Lightyear" debuted in cinemas on June 17. While the previous three Pixar movies were launched in online streaming platform, "Lightyear" was exclusively shown in theaters.

If you missed it in theaters, you'll soon have your chance to watch it as it is heading to Disney+ next month.

It took 47 days before "Lightyear" heads to Disney+, which is the same number days Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness became available in the streaming platform.

Other Disney films took quite some time to be available on Disney+. For instance, it took Black Widow 89 days, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings took 70 days, and Eternals took 68 days.

You can say that "Lightyear" is a Toy Story spinoff. But you will actually find a meta element to it, as per Engadget.

Supposedly, the Buzz Lightyear action figure in the Toy Story movies is based on Buzz Lightyear, the astronaut.

In the movie, Buzz is in human character who is voiced by Chris Evans. Together with his crew and commander, they get stranded on a strange planet. In the film, they need to find a way to come back home.

Other casts of the film are Keke Palmer, Peter Sohn, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules, James Brolin and Uzo Aduba.

Is Buzz from 'Lightyear' the Same as Buzz from 'Toy Story'?

Lightyear is a computer-animated science fiction, action-adventure film released in 2022. It was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios. The film was distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

"Lightyear" was co-written and directed by Angus MacLane and produced by Galyn Susman.

The film is considered as a spin-off of the Toy Story film series. It is the fifth overall installment in the franchise.

However, although the film features the character Buzz Lightyear, it takes place in a different fictional universe as the main Toy Story film series.

While Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story film series is a plastic toy, Buzz in "Lightyear" is an astronaut. "Lightyear" is a movie that the characters in the Toy Story universe have watched.

The movie is about a young astronaut, Buzz Lightyear. He, together with his commander and crew, gets stuck in a hostile planet. As they try to find a way back home, they confronted a threat to the universe's safety.

The idea of a human Buzz Lightyear was first introduced in the 2000 direct-to-video film "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins."

"Lightyear" received generally positive reviews. Critics praised the film's animation, voice acting, score, and entertainment value.
