Discord Voice Chat Is Coming to Xbox: Here’s What You Have to Know

Discord is now coming to Xbox as Microsoft is expanding the reach of Xbox when it comes to communication. In a recent report, the company is rolling out a feature that integrates Discord into its platform to nurture communities and provide ease for gamers who want to play with friends.

The Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles will soon be able to use the Discord voice chat service.

Gamers will soon be able to have voice conversations with anyone on Discord through voice channels, or group calls right from their console, making it much simpler to communicate with pals on PC, mobile, and Xbox consoles.

Discord on Xbox Consoles

This Discord integration update released today enables Discord Voice on Xbox systems, a feature that has been the most requested by many gamers for so long.

Finally, this feature will allow users to communicate with their friends and the community around them while they play the games they enjoy the most.

Engadget reports that this feature will allow players to see who is talking to them on the call even if they are occupied with the game they are playing on their console. In addition, players can change the volume and toggle between the Discord Voice chat and Xbox game chat.

However, it requires a few steps to integrate. To enable the transfer of voice conversations from Discord to Xbox consoles, users need to accept prompts in different apps and follow a few steps.

This Discord update on the consoles will first be available to a subset of Xbox Insiders today.

The feature will first be released on Wednesday, July 20, on Xbox Insider, the program that allows customers to check out software and games early for Xbox Series X and S and Xbox One consoles.

Microsoft did not release a timeline for further rollouts. However, the Discord integration was confirmed to be released and will be made available to all Xbox users later this year.

How To Enable Discord on Xbox

According to Xbox, users first need to connect their Xbox accounts to Discord. To do that, press the Xbox button on the Xbox console, head to Parties & Chats and select Try Discord Voice on Xbox.

After that, the scanning of QR code options will be made available.

Players may connect their Xbox account to their Discord account and establish a two-way link between the two platforms by scanning the corresponding QR code.

If a person has already connected their Xbox to their Discord account in the past, they will need to re-link their accounts again.

Once the Discord account is linked to Xbox, they can check out the channels they want to enter. On the Discord mobile app, users will see a new option to Join on Xbox.

After that, users will be required to have the Xbox software installed on their console to transfer voice chat from their Discord account to their Xbox.

The Xbox app will run automatically for users who already have it installed, at which point they will be given the option to connect the Discord Voice Chat to their Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One console.

However, keep in mind that some parental controls might be applicable to some gamers. Additionally, when using Discord Voice for chatting on Xbox platforms, Discord's strict safety guidelines will be enforced.
