Android 4.3 Jelly Bean pre-release for HTC One leaks, available as custom ROM

You can now update the international HTC One smartphone to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as a pre-release version has leaked and is available as a custom ROM.

While HTC is slated to release the official by end September for its popular flagship smartphone, fans can now get a taste of the Android 4.3 OS thanks to the leaked pre-release version.

"This morning a pre-release version of Android 4.3 plus HTC Sense 5 has been leaked for the international HTC One," reports Android Central.

The leak is courtesy of well-known developer LlabTooFeR, who released the firmware as a custom ROM.  The developer posted  the custom Android 4.3 ROM on the XDA-Developers forum. The "Maximus HD 12.1.0 ROM" is based on the firmware version 3.09.401.1.

What's more, according to Android Central, LlabTooFeR will release the "untouched firmware" on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. GMT.

While the software leak will be welcomed by many owners of the HTC One, the news is unsurprising as HTC recently confirmed that the Canadian and U.S. variants of the smartphone will bypass Android 4.2 and directly jump to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean by end September.

"Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well," tweeted Jason Mackenzie, HTC's President last week.

The Android 4.3 Maximus HD 12.01.0 custom ROM comes with the New Base 3.009.401.1, and adds OpenGL ES 3.0 support, Google Wi-Fi scanning feature, Google Games, as well as support for Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

It also brings the ability to remotely wipe the device and use HTC TV in countries where TV programs are unavailable. Additionally, users will benefit from updated System Fonts, AppDrawer, Kernel, as well as OEM apps and several other changes.

If you are unable to wait for HTC to officially release the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software for the HTC One in the coming weeks, you can check out the Maximus HD 12.1.0 custom ROM. However, do remember that it could damage your device and you do so at your own risk.

With September around the corner, we recommend waiting for HTC to officially release the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One and hold off installing the leaked ROM.
