Lenovo’s New Wearable Display Promises Privacy for Any Activity on the Go

Lenovo has something new that could change how people use their mobile devices and laptops on the go.

The tech giant recently revealed its new Lenovo Glasses T1 wearable private display that provides a portable second display at Berlin's IFA tech show for people always on the move.

The portable display is expected to hit store shelves in select markets in 2023, with its price being undisclosed until the device is ready to be released.

Lenovo mentioned in its announcement that its new wearable display would be compatible with Android and iOS devices with its full-function USB-C cable with Lightning adapter.

The device itself is shaped like sunglasses, with the "lenses" serving as its display. Thanks to the full-function cable it comes with, it can be used for a variety of applications, which includes streaming and gaming.

Speaking of the T1 Wearable's screen, it comes equipped with "leading edge" micro-OLED display technology that delivers "incredible color richness" and a super-high contrast ratio of 10,000:1.

CNET mentioned in its article that each of the displays supports 1920x1080-pixel resolution, a framerate of 60HZ, and has TUV Low Blue Light certification. Meanwhile, the device's frame comes with high-fidelity built-in speakers, so you don't have to use headphones to hear the phone's audio.

Although the portable screen will rely on the battery charge of the device you'd plug it into, it won't take too much of your device's battery life. The T1 Wearable's high optical efficiency and low overall power consumption allow it to act as your second screen to stream videos and play games for hours.

However, the portable screen isn't just for fun and games. It can also be used for work, fully extending a smartphone's capabilities to the T1 Wearable.

Users won't have to worry about their privacy and the confidentiality of their documents as the device's shape and design prevents shoulder surfers from looking.

Lenovo expects users to use the device for long periods. To provide the maximum amount of comfort, the company made the nose clips swappable while its temple arms can be adjusted based on user preferences.

The lenses, which also serve as the device's display, can be switched with prescription lenses to aid those with sight problems through an in-box attachable frame.

Lenovo wants to capitalize on the growing global shift from desktops and laptops to smartphones and tablets through its new portable screen. According to Eric Yu, Lenovo's senior vice president of Commercial Product Center and SMB Segment, With the T1 Wearable, users have a "portable and private big screen experience and can get more value from their phones and laptops."
