iPhone Users Are Experiencing Battery Life Issues After Updating to iOS 16

The iOS 16's release has sparked up many issues since its launch, and one of them is the fact that it drains the phone's battery faster than it usually does. It has been two weeks since the release of the new operating system, but the complaints have not died down.

According to 9to5Mac, searching about the iOS 16's battery issue on various social media platforms like Reddit, Twitter, and TikTok will dig up a lot of complaints from users.

This could be the iOS 16 reindexing files, photos, apps, and more in the background. It might explain why the phone is eating up battery life even if it's not in use. Apple has not yet addressed the issue, so we don't yet know if there is a fix or if the battery life problem will dissipate after a while.

What Could Be Draining Your Battery?

The iOS 16 update has provided iPhone users with a plethora of new features and enhancements, which can be seen on the official Apple website. These things that automate your phone function or make it more visually pleasing could add to the background factor of battery drainage.

The operating system update includes the Live Activities panel on your lock screen. It shows real-time updates on current happenings, which will more or less add to the various reasons why your phone's battery life is growing shorter even on standby.

There is even a feature where you could view the Earth, Moon, or solar system using the astronomy-themed lock screens that show live conditions and updates every time there are changes. That kind of background activity will definitely eat at your battery.

The iOS 16 update also brings its users a new notification animation. With the way our phone updates us with anything and everything that happens within the system and your apps, it will surely be a variable in the battery problem, but now that notifications include animations, it could just be twice as draining as before.

What You Can Do In The Meantime

There are ways to conserve your battery while the battery life issues brought by the iOS 16 update have not come to pass or have not yet been resolved.

The simplest way to maximize your phone battery is the adjustment of your screen brightness. The brighter your screen is, the more energy it requires. Lower your brightness, and it could substantially add to your battery life.

If a Wi-Fi network is available, use that instead of your cellular data. Wi-Fi takes up less power and can be more convenient, not to mention it lightens your phone bills as well.

If you're willing to put in just a little more work into conserving your battery life, look into your battery usage information. To prolong battery life, try to reduce background activities. Go to settings, and then General, to Background App Refresh. Select Wi-Fi and Cellular Data and turn off Background App Refresh entirely.
