Apple is Changing iOS 16’s Battery Percentage Icon

iOS 16's days of confusing iOS users with different battery charge level indicators are numbered.

Apple has reportedly reworked the new battery charge level indicator to make it better. Now, the returning battery percentage indicator gives the user a far more accurate and consistent reading, unlike before.

However, iOS users may have to wait until the next update to get a more accurate version of iOS 16's battery percentage indicator.

iOS 16 Battery Indicator Fix Details

Apple's removal of the battery charge level indicator has always been a topic of discussion for iOS fans even before iOS 16 came out if Engadget's article is anything to go by. As a result, when Apple reworked the indicator, Apple fans were excited to see it in action for the first time after a long while.

With the release of iOS 16, iPhone users were given the option of having the battery charge level indicator alone or having it paired with the battery percentage indicator, which provides users with a more quantifiable reading than just having a depleting bar.

Unfortunately, the battery charge level indicator was not as accurate as people hoped it to be. According to 9to5Mac, iOS users have strongly negative opinions about it, with them complaining that it would show a full battery icon despite the percentage indicator saying otherwise.

Additionally, iOS users can only see if their battery is almost depleted when its charge level hits 20%, and only then will the charge level indicator change from full battery to one at 20%.

Fortunately, with iOS 16.1 beta 2, Apple made the two indicators show the same charge level, adjusting as needed based on the phone's current charge level instead of suddenly turning red when the charge level is below 20%.

As a result, iOS users will no longer see different battery levels when they check their phones at a glance.

In addition to the more accurate and consistent battery charge level indicator, it features a new design, with it sporting a bolder font than before. It will also no longer display a lightning bolt icon when the phone is fully charged.

Apple also brought a feature from iOS 15 with the upcoming update, where a battery percentage indicator will temporarily appear above the phone's time display.

This feature can also be found on the iPhone 14 Pro models, particularly within its Dynamic Island feature.

iOS 16.1 Release Date

Although iOS 16.1 is the next update for iOS users to look forward to in the coming days, Apple has yet to mention when it will be available to all users.

As previously mentioned, the update is still in its beta phase, and it could remain that way for some time as the company might add more improvements and features with the update.

It could also adjust some of the changes it already has planned for the update to enhance them and provide iOS users with a better experience.
